The smell of rotten damp foliage and sun dried concrete send my nose into a frenzy of delight.
I get in ultra-good mood.
I think it's instinctual, pre programmed into my genetic HTML, akin to the way a tree senses the coming cold and sheds it's leaves to slumber for another winter. Every species has something like that that they can't help but obey. Migration, hibernation, swimming up stream; becoming happy when things melt.

It just makes me happy.
A pleasant bonus is that this is the third time is happened here. Two weeks ago everything melted before the saska-crew arrived. I rememberit like yesterday...yesterday..yesterday.....
It was a gorgeous plus 10 and snow seemed to be retreating right before your eyes. Rooftops were dripping so profusely it reminded one of a sweating athlete wiping their forehead. Water was rushing down the sloping hills of the Calgary road system. Rushing and rushing until finding a puddle to sit in until running, once more, the Drainage Marathon. All around you, as you walk down the Kensington area, you see these races being run by the freshly melted H2O until they inevitably take the plunge down a drain. As close to the Victoria Falls as this water will ever get. The splashing at the bottom of the dark drain produces a soothing white-noise sound that adds to the harmony of everything else around you; the perfect soundtrack. And as you walk around taking in the water and the birds and the warm sun fighting diligently through the cool temperature to reach and warm your back, the smell of the soaking foliage and drying concrete fills your nostrils.
Perfect.
And now its happening again which is just christmas twice in one month for me.
